Usually Adapter Tubes or Adapter Rings are used to attach further accessories to Photocameras. They sort of work as a "Connection Piece" between a Camera respectively a Camcorder and their accessories, such as e.g. a Lens Converter or Filters.
The Zoom Lens of the Camera can still move freely within the Adapter Tube.
Additionally the Zoom Motor of the Camera is relieved from possible leverage forces which could occur on the filterthread of the Camera.

Adapter Tubes respectively Adapter Rings normally have a direct Connection thread on the accessory side.
However, the "Camera side" can have an outer or inner thread as well as a Bayonet Connection.
Adapter Tubes and Rings are essential to connect accessories to your Camera.
