CECILIA stands at the forefront of a family-run leather, tanning, and trading manufactory now in its 5th generation, with over 100 years of experience. Designed together with renowned photographers, created in New York, and made in the USA, each camera strap is a high-quality unique piece.
For the shoulder strap offered here, the finest baby alpaca wool was used, a sustainably produced raw material from the Peruvian Andes, whose processing supports the local communities around Cusco, the historic capital of Peru.
The wool is spun into a hypoallergenic fiber after shearing, which absorbs hardly any moisture and has an extremely high tensile strength. This natural fiber is then handwoven on horizontal hip-strap looms according to centuries-old tradition and combined with the finest, surface-finished "full grain" smooth leather from Argentine cattle. Additionally, an extremely tear-resistant nylon fabric, tested for a tensile strength of 113 kg, runs through the camera strap. As a direct connection to your camera, a hardened and corrosion-protected steel ring with a leather pad is used.
