CECILIA is at the head of a family-run leather, tanning and trading company that is now in its 5th generation and can look back on more than 100 years of experience. Designed together with honorable photographers, designed in New York and made from the finest materials worldwide, each camera strap is a high-quality one-off.
The finest baby alpaca wool was used for the shoulder strap offered here, a sustainably produced raw material from the Peruvian Andes, the processing of which supports the local communities around Cusco, the historic capital of Peru.
After shearing, the wool is spun into a hypoallergenic fiber that hardly absorbs moisture and has an extremely high tensile strength. This natural fiber is then woven by hand according to a centuries-old tradition on horizontal hip belt looms, a very old form of back belt weaving equipment, and combined with the best, surface-finished "full grain" smooth leather from Argentine cattle. But that's not all: The entire camera strap is traversed by an extremely tear-resistant nylon fabric, which has been tested for a pull weight of 113 kg. The Peruvian geometric pattern of the belt is called "kuti nawi".
