The Sailor Strap brand represents a small workshop in Warsaw that has been traditionally crafting a handmade camera wrist strap from artificial silk rope for several years, a symbiosis between sailing and photography. Only the finest materials are processed by hand, with the idea of sustainability also having a significant influence on the wrist strap made of cord and leather. An example of this is the vegetable-tanned leather, originally made from the offcuts of Italian premium handbags. The camera wrist strap made of artificial silk rope itself consists of so-called polyester silk, a yarn made from very fine polyester threads, which is intricately braided into a rope. The polyester silk rope can easily compete with its natural counterpart in terms of suppleness and elegant shine, and even surpass it in terms of function. Although it offers a similarly high wearing comfort as silk, it is additionally tear-resistant, quick-drying, colorfast, and shape-retaining. Finally, it is firmly connected to the Italian leather with robust saddler’s thread and equipped with a hardened, corrosion-resistant split ring, making each wrist strap made of cord and leather a unique piece.
