The brand Sailor Strap represents a small workshop in Warsaw that has been handcrafting a traditional camera shoulder strap rope made from artificial silk cord and Italian premium leather for several years, a symbiosis between sailing and photography. Only the finest materials are processed by hand, with the idea of sustainability also having a significant influence on the camera strap rope. An example of this is the vegetable-tanned leather, originally made from the offcuts of Italian premium handbags. The high-quality camera shoulder strap rope itself consists of so-called polyester silk, a yarn made from very fine polyester threads, which is intricately braided into an artificial silk rope. The polyester silk rope can easily compete with its natural counterpart in terms of suppleness and elegant shine, and even surpass it in functionality. Although it offers a similarly high wearing comfort as silk, it is additionally tear-resistant, quick-drying, lightfast, and shape-retaining. Finally, it is securely connected to the Italian leather with robust saddler’s thread and equipped with hardened corrosion-resistant split rings, making each camera shoulder strap rope a unique piece.
