The brand Sailor Strap represents a small workshop in Warsaw, which for several years has been traditionally crafting a handmade camera strap braided from rope and Italian premium leather, a symbiosis between sailing and photography. Only the finest materials are processed by hand, with the concept of sustainability also having a significant influence on the leather and rope camera strap. An example of this is the vegetable-tanned leather, originally made from the offcuts of Italian premium handbags. The high-quality camera strap rope itself consists of so-called polyester silk, a yarn made from very fine polyester threads, intricately braided into a rope. The polyester silk rope can easily compete with its natural counterpart in terms of suppleness and elegant shine, and even surpass it in functionality. Although it offers a similarly high wearing comfort as silk, it is additionally tear-resistant, quick-drying, colorfast, and shape-retaining. Finally, securely connected to the Italian leather with robust saddler’s thread and equipped with hardened corrosion-resistant split rings, each leather and rope camera strap is an absolute unique piece.
The camera strap braided from rope, model "Lieutenant" by Sailor Strap, is characterized by a rope thickness of 10mm and the availability of two different strap lengths, in this case the longer Sailor Strap Lieutenant version with a length of 120cm.
